I believe Toyota started putting timing chain in for the late 1998 and up Corollas but has Toyota started putting timing chain in the Camry
and if so, what year did they start doing it?

Thanks!

Depends on what engine the Camry was equipped with - the 4 cylinder or V6.

Starting with the 2002 Camry 4-cylinder, was the first one that made the switch from a timing belt to a timing chain. This was when Toyota introduced the 2.4L 2AZ-FE engine to replace the older 2.2L 5S-FE engine.

Starting with the 2007 (current generation of Camry) - the older V6 models (all timing belts) were replaced with the new 3.5L 2GR-FE V6 engine that now features a timing chain.
